In 2006 KAREN EMMS passed the National Diploma in Music at the Colchester Institute with a Triple Distinction. After, Karen continued her studies at Colchester Institute and in 2009 completed the BA (Hons) Music course, resulting in an upper second music degree. As well as being an accomplished singer she is also a fine oboist and pianist; performing and arranging for small ensembles.
During the last year of her degree Karen led the ensemble The Perfect Fourths Woodwind Quartet who have played for various venues including Canary Wharf. Since that Karen has worked with other musicians and singers and together they formed the group Harmonize.
Karen sings in St Mary's choir and Singers. She has played oboe in local orchestras such as The Colne Philharmonic Orchestra, taken part in Wivenhoe Gilbert and Sullivan productions, performed in the Wivenhoe festival and sang in a master class for the Gibbs Festival.
Karen also loves dancing and has been involved with ballet, tap, disco, modern and jazz over the years.
In February 2011 Karen's enthusiasm and love of music led to meet other singers/musicians who share the same passion and together they formed the group Aurora Voices. To hear Karen and the members of the group, click on the link which includes a mixture of solo and ensemble recordings.
Karen is now a Music Teacher, sings with Lexden Choral Society, Coggeshal Camerata and recently sang a solo at St Leonards Church in Lexden.
